Unconditional Love

Posted on May 12th, 2006 in General by yeehan
I received this forwarded message from my friend:

When you were 1 year old, she fed you and bathed you.
You thanked her by crying all night long.

When you were 2 years old, she taught you to walk.
You thanked her by running away when she called.

When you were 3 years old, she made all your meals with love.
You thanked her by tossing your plate on the floor.

When you were 4 years old, she gave you some crayons
You thanked her by coloring the dining room table.

When you were 5 years old, she dressed you for the holidays.
You thanked her by plopping into the nearest pile of mud.

When you were 6 years old, she walked you to school.
You thanked her by screaming, "I'M NOT GOING!"

When you were 7 years old, she bought you a baseball.
You thanked her by throwing it through the next-door-neighbor's window.

When you were 8 years old, she handed you an ice cream.
You thanked her by dripping it all over your lap.

When you were 9 years old, she paid for piano lessons.
You thanked her by never even bothering to practice.

When you were 10 years old she drove you all day, from soccer to gymnastics to one birthday party after another.
You thanked her by jumping out of the car and never looking back.

When you were 11 years old, she took you and your friends to the movies.
You thanked her by asking to sit in a different row.

When you were 12 years old, she warned you not to watch certain TV shows.
You thanked her by waiting until she left the house.

When you were 13, she suggested a haircut that was becoming.
You thanked her by telling her she had no taste.

When you were 14, she paid for a month away at summer camp.
You thanked her by forgetting to write a single letter.

When you were 15, she came home from work, looking for a hug.
You thanked her by having your bedroom door locked.

When you were 16, she taught you how to drive her car.
You thanked her by taking it every chance you could.

When you were 17, she was expecting an important call.
You thanked her by being on the phone all night.

When you were 18, she cried at your high school graduation.
You thanked her by staying out partying until dawn.

When you were 19, she paid for your college tuition, drove you to campus, carried your bags.
You thanked her by saying good-bye outside the dorm so you wouldn't be embarrassed in front of your friends.

When you were 20, she asked whether you were seeing anyone.
You thanked her by saying, "It's none of your business

When you were 21, she suggested certain careers for your future.
You thanked her by saying, "I don't want to be like you

When you were 22, she hugged you at your college graduation.
You thanked her by asking whether she could pay for a trip to Europe.

When you were 23, she gave you furniture for your first apartment.
You thanked her by telling your friends it was ugly.

When you were 24, she met your fiance and asked about your plans for the future.
You thanked her by glaring and growling,"Muuhh-ther, please!"

When you were 25, she helped to pay for your wedding, and she cried and told you how deeply she loved you.
You thanked her by moving halfway across the country.
When you were 30, she called with some advice on the baby.
You thanked her by telling her, "Things are different now."

When you were 40, she called to remind you of a relative's birthday.
You thanked her by saying you were "really busy right now.

When you were 50, she fell ill and needed you to take care of her.
You thanked her by reading about the burden parents become to their children.

And then, one day, she quietly died. And everything you never did came crashing down like thunder on YOUR HEART.

If she's still around, never forget to love her more than ever. And if she's not, remember her unconditional love. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers in the world. And specially to my mum.

Pass it on…

7 May 2006- Red Day

Posted on May 8th, 2006 in Announcement, Sports by yeehan

I should announce that 7 May 2006 is a Red Day. First, in badminton, we have China who beat Denmark 3-0 to retain the Thomas Cup. Secondly, in Formula 1, we have Ferrari’s Michael Schumacher who drove to his second successive victory in European Grand Prix. Third, in soccer, we have Manchester United who thrashed Charlton 4-0, Liverpool who won 3-1 against Portsmouth and Arsenal (they used to be in red) beating Wigan 4-2.

China has been quite a dominant force in badminton. In the semi-finals, they won 3-0 against Indonesia as well. But I am still proud of Malaysia for making it into the semi-finals although they lost 3-2 to Denmark. I guess results could be otherwise had Wong Choon Han not injured his leg during the quaterfinal clash against South Korea. Yeap, no holiday for Malaysia this time again. Well, at least the final four in Thomas Cup comprises of the world’s top four badminton countries. That’s what I think. Full report.

In Formula 1, it’s great to see that Ferrari are back in the title race. Michael Schumacher drove to a great strategy to give Ferrari their second succissive victory. Although in the race, it seems Renault’s Fernando Alonso would be holding on to his third win of the season. However, a great pit-stop strategy by Ferrari allows Michael to overtake the champion and win the race in Nurburgring, Germany. And Alonso was 3.7 seconds behind. Great race by Alonso as well. He’s quite a great driver, having been first or second in all races this season so far. Full report.

In English Premier League, Manchester United secured the second spot of automatic qualification for Champions League despite Liverpool’s win over Portsmouth. The Red Devil is without striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy, whose future is in doubt after he drove off from Old Trafford before the match. Rumour was that Ferguson would put him on the bench instead of the starting eleven. As for Liverpool, despite winning the final match, they had to settle for 3rd place. So, they will have to go through Champions League qualification stages next season. And finally, Arsenal managed to steal the final spot of Champions League qualifying place after they won 4-2 against Wigan and Tottenham lost 2-1 to West Ham. I feel sorry for Tottenham as they had been on the 4th place since December, only to lose the spot to Arsenal on the final day. Being in Champions League guarantees big cash and prospects of signing good players. Now, they had to settle for the less appealing UEFA place. Results.

7th of May might be a Red Day, but it’s definitely not a Blue’s Day. Firstly, Renault failed to win the race despite starting from pole position. As for soccer, Chelsea lost 1-0 to Newcastle, their fifth lost this season. Most red colour teams won today while the blue teams lost. Coincidence? Perhaps.

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 cups of coffee…

Posted on May 6th, 2006 in Interesting by yeehan

Let’s take some time off in life and ponder at the following story. See if it’s relevant or useful to you. I would hope that you can share with your friends. I just DID. This excerpt is sent to me by my friend, Alia Cooper.

“When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar..and the 2 cups of coffee…

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “yes.”

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

“Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things-your God, family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions — things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else — the small stuff. “If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.”

Take care of the golf balls first — the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. “I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.” ”

Another (bad) time of the century

Posted on May 4th, 2006 in Announcement by yeehan

Watch out for next month. Since we have one unique time earlier today, there's another time to remember next month. (A bad omen time, some may think so). At exactly 6 minutes and 6 seconds past 6am next month on the sixth. The clock would show:

06:06:06 06/06/06

"Not exactly the bad omen number but if we rearange the numbers, we'll have two sets of 666. Looks familiar? So, better wrap yourself in blankets and do not go out as the evil will be twice as powerful on that day".

I guess some people are just so free to think of such things. In that case, everyday at anytime of the day will be a significant event if we can think hard to associate the time with any events.
