Engin Orientation Week

I have just completed my Engin Orientation Week as the Group IC. My group is known as Blizzard (snowstorm, and yeap the same name as Warcraft’s creator). This year’s theme was about Stone Age known as Cenozoic. There were four houses; Earth, Fire, Wind, Water. Lack of Heart, if not, we’ll combine and form Captain Planet. Haha. That is a very nice cartoon in my younger days. Anyway, I’m part of Water house.

My group of freshmen were simply awesome. They are really a bunch of enthusiastic, caring and friendly freshie. The whole orientation week lasted one week, starting from 5th August to 12 August. We had in total 3 nights’ of stayover in campus. Though on the first day, less than 10 people stayed, but on the last day, about 16 out of 20 stayed to enjoy the fun. What is so special about them? I would say their spirit in playing the games and enjoying the orientation whole-heartedly. The whole feeling was rather different when I was the councillor for Union Camp as compared to the Engin Orientation Week. It could be due to the fact that I was just a councillor in UC but in Engin O Week, I was the group IC. I’m not saying that the freshie in UC was lousy, just that the freshie in Engin O Week has stronger bonding with me. Like I said, I was in-charge of the whole group; having to be responsible for them, making sure that the whole group unites and stays on.

On the second day, I lost my voice. Rather unfortunate as I still had few days to lead the group in cheering and talking to the freshie. But looking at how caring the freshie and councillors are to me, it doesn’t really matter although I can’t talk much after that with my harsh voice. I’m really thankful and touched by their care and kindness. My councillors bought me “Pei Pa Koa” and honey. And my freshie bought me “Pei Pa Koa” sweets, sorethroat lozenges and kept asking me to rest and not to do much cheering. I would really want to thank my group from the bottom of my heart.

Blizzard is definitely the most crazy and enthusiastic group that I have ever seen. From singing in the bus all the way from Sentosa to Mambo-ing all night, the group of freshmen has raised the spirit within the group. Without the freshie and councillors participation, I don’t think we could have won three prizes; best skit for scavenger hunt, most enthusiastic OG and highest flag day collection by an OG. Three cheers to them. Blizzard will definitely leave a deep impression in my heart years to come. Looking forward to having our OG outings soon.
