World’s Greatest TV- Toshiba 2651

Posted on November 30th, 2006 in Interesting, Videos by yeehan

Ever dream of a large TV? Bigger than your house, perhaps. It may sound absurd, but “Mitsubishi Electric has completed construction of the world’s largest high-definition (HDTV) video screen - the Toshiba 2651 - at a race track in Tokyo. The screen uses Mitsubishi’s Aurora Vision LED technology and measures 37 feet (11.2m high) by 218 feet (66.4m long), giving it a surface area of 8,000+ square feet, or the equivalent of 3 tennis courts! And it’s about 4 storeys high!!!

Mitsubishi manufactured the screen for the Japan Racing Association (JRA) at its Nagasaki factory. The screen was divided into 35 pieces for delivery to the Tokyo Racecourse in Fuchu. The bright, high-definition display is 3 times larger than what was previously installed at the horse track and the screen’s three sections allow the audience to take in the action at other tracks.

Total cost is reported to be 3.2 billion yen (£15 million). One athletic reporter in Japan recorded a video of herself sprinting from one end of the 2,651inch monster to the other in 12.8 seconds! You’d have to stack 1,550 32inch TVs to match the size of this mother of all TV screens.”

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)

Posted on November 29th, 2006 in Movies, Videos by yeehan

“Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts for one of his most difficult years yet. Not only must he study for his OWL exams, but as the Ministry of Magic is gradually taking control of Hogwarts and spares no efforts trying to discredit him, he tries to tell the skeptical wizarding world the truth of Voldemort’s return.

Trouble brews as Harry’s fifth year at Hogwarts begins. The authorities are ignoring Harry and Dumbledore’s warnings of Voldemort’s return, causing his fellow classmates to view him with disdain. Meanwhile, a new witch assumes control at Hogwarts, throwing the entire school into chaos. Will Harry lose everything?”

I’ve not read any of the Harry Potter books so I don’t really know what will happened in this movie. But I have watched all the Harry Potter movies so far. On the big screen and TVs. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be released on 13th July 2007.
Wow, seems like there are so many movies coming out next year. Hoping to see more potentially BIG movies coming out.

Spiderman 3 - The Movie

Posted on November 28th, 2006 in Movies, Videos by yeehan

The latest instalment of the Marvel comic character will be out in the cinemas soon. Spider-Man 3, is going to be a big hit (I believe it’ll surpass the previous two takings in cinemas). The introduction of Venom, the venomous villain in this sequel will definitely add more spice and flavour to the normal superhero stories. I think Spiderman 3 will be a tense and action-packed movie. You can watch the official trailer below. Looking forward to its release next year- 4th May 2007. See ya in cinema then. In the meantime, it’s study time!!! 5 more papers to go before my one month freedom starting 6th Dec (or to be more specific 5th Dec 2006, 7pm)

YUI- Japanese Rock Artist

Posted on November 27th, 2006 in Entertainment, Videos by yeehan

“YUI (pronounced as Yu-e) is a Japanese J-pop/J-rock artist, born March 26, 1987 in Fukuoka, Japan. She sings, plays the acoustic guitar, and writes her own songs. Two of her songs are featured in Bleach, a Japanese anime series, which has brought her some international attention. The two songs are “LIFE” and “Rolling star”, the fifth ending and fifth opening themes, respectively.

Her first full album, From Me to You, was released February 22, 2006. Among its thirteen tracks, nine of them were previously unreleased, and have been well received from her fans. The album has already reached as high as the weekly ninth most sold album in Japan, with the main track, “TOKYO”, reaching the number four spot on the MTV Japan’s song charts.”

Feel My Soul

I particularly likes YUI when I first saw her Music Video. Her voice, her looks- everything about her. She’s quite pretty (or cute or both perhaps). Don’t you agree? The music video below is by YUI- Feel My Soul. And of all songs, I like this MV the most. That’s why it’s up here. Yup, I have to admit that I’m now being captivated by her beauty and talent.
(I have never heard of her name until my friend show me about her music videos. Thanks ya.)

Here’s another video clip of her song- Good bye days. It was the main song in her debut movie- Midnight Sun (in Japanese Taiyō no Uta (タイヨウのうた, song of the sun). It which will be screened in Singapore on 14 December 2006. This movie was screened at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. I shall write the review of the movie soon.

Hey, I love you Doc…

Posted on November 23rd, 2006 in Funny by yeehan

I received this from my friend Aik. Think about it, some of the advice sounds logical. Not forgetting the funny part. I particularly like the whale one. Hehe. Enjoy folks…

“For those of us who hate to eat healthy and loathe to exercise, might like the advice given here.

I DON’T KNOW WHO THIS DOCTOR IS, BUT I LIKE HIM! MY KINDA DOCTOR…

QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION ON HEALTH

Q: I’ve heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for a certain many beats, and that’s it…with say plus or minus a few extra hundred or so more beats. So don’t waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that’s like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
——————————————————————————–
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
——————————————————————————–
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
——————————————————————————–
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
——————————————————————————–
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can’t think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain…Good !
——————————————————————————–
Q: Aren’t fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU’RE NOT LISTENING!!!… Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they’re permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
——————————————————————————–
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
——————————————————————————–
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO.. Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It’s the best feel-good food around!
——————————————————————————–
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
——————————————————————————–
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! ‘Round’ is a shape!
——————————————————————————–

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:
“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO, What a Ride!”   =-O ”
