Make your XP look (and work) like Vista

Windows Vista will be launched in January next year. It’s about two months away. As mentioned in my previous entry, I downloaded and installed Vista RC1 (Read my previous blog entry here). However, I uninstalled it in less than a week. Reason being the memory usage for Vista is just too much that it slowed down my computer (My RAM is only 512MB). As mentioned also, I like the graphical interface of Vista. Maybe because I’ve been using XP for sometime and it’s time for something new and refreshing.

So, I have found another site which allows me to transform the Windows XP graphical interface into something that feels and looks like Windows Vista. Here’s the Vista Transformation Pack (VTP) v5.5 which gives my XP a (complete) makeover. The good news is that I don’t have to spend more to upgrade my RAM and graphic cards. Besides that, unlike Vista RC1, this VTP will not clash with any of the existing programs especially Nero Burning Rom and Norton Antivirus. Phew. I had to uninstalled these two programs last time because Vista doesn’t allow me to continue the RC1 installation unless I uninstalled the two programs.

How VTP works? It replaces the resources files such as the bootup screen, system tray icons, wallpapers, etc in XP (All related to graphics) They say that you can uninstall as simple as you install. I’ve not tried that but I think it’s true since I can find the item in the Add and Remove programs. So, uninstallation should be similar to other softwares. To get this VTP, visit Windows X Live. Also, this is a free-ware so you can try as you wish at no additional cost.
