Gilroy Premium Outlets

I thought that the place would look like a warehouse. I mean a lot of warehouses. After all, they are all known as factory outlets. Big buildings with very high roofs. Oh well, it didn’t even look like that at all. The place looks much nicer than thought. And much bigger than I thought. The factory outlet that I went to; Gilroy Premium Outlets, has a total of four buildings. There is a wide range of apparel, shoes, accessories and gifts speciality to choose from. For the designer and sportswear apparel itself, there are more than 60 to choose from. To name a few well-known brands- Adidas, Billabong, Calvin Klein, Guess, Levi’s, Nike and Tommy Hilfiger. The price of the clothes were at least 20%-30% cheaper than retail price. Not forgetting that if you buy more, there will be more discounts too. And if there are public holidays, you might even get a higher discount.

You need to plan well the shops that you intend to go to. The group of us who went there thought that we should just go by each shop to take a look. We spent almost 4 hours there and never had the time to finish walking every shops. Intention of window shopping of every location didn’t turn out well because the place is simply very BIG!

Oh well, Gilroy Premium Outlets is just about an hour’s drive from our house so we’ll be going there for sure again for a few times. The link below is for the chain of outlets. They are quite a number of outlets across the United States. If you happened to come to US and pass by this place, you should not miss this place. It’s a shopping paradise for those shopaholics out there.

There are places to eat there but most likely you’ll shop till you drop. We went to Applebee’s Grill and Bar to have lunch there. The food there is quite nice and the price is reasonable. There are also In & Out and McD there. But I think food is not your main concern. The shopping outlets are. It’s a good place to burn your wallet. :)

My Heritage

Does your friends think that you look like one of the celebrities out there? Or do you think that you look like that famous singer? Or you feel that one of your friend resembles an actor? Well, now you can ‘verify’ the claim by using the face recognition tool found on My Heritage website. You just upload your photo online and the system will help to detect the face of the celebrities whom you look like. And then they’ll give you the percentage of look-a-like.

You can try it for fun. I tried myself and found that I resemble a female celebrity more than anyone else. And every photo that you submit, you’ll most likely look like another celebrity. The system is such that it’ll do it’s best to match your face with their database. So, if your face tilted a bit, you might look like someone else.

Anyway, this is just for those who wants to try out something else if you are bored.

In sunny California

Posted on August 10th, 2007 in Uncategorized by yeehan

The weather in California is just great. The sun shines brightly (sometimes too bright especially in the late evening) and we have got a very cool breeze most of the time. Having been in a temperate country for almost all my life, I have never had the proper chance to experience such a nice weather. I’m going to enjoy it.

It gets pretty chilling when the sun sets and since it’s summer now, you’ll get sunlight from 6am till almost 9pm. Still getting used to the less humid environment here too. Almost every location nearby my place has low-rise buildings. You can hardly see any buildings higher than four storeys high. I guess I’ll only get to see them nearer to the main city in San Francisco. Shall be exploring next time in the future but for now, I should try to settle down first.

Public transportation here is less convenient. You’ll most likely need to travel far and longer to get to your destinations. Hence, it would be advisable to get your own transportation. Here are some random snapshorts of the place and during my flight from Sg:
