Full Moon on the Quad

Posted on October 25th, 2007 in Interesting, Silicon Valley by yeehan

It’s a STANFORD TRADITION! It’s one of the highlights of Stanford life. This year Full Moon on the Quad (FMOTQ) will start at 10:30 PM, October 25, 2007 (Tonight) in the Main Quad. There will be many bands, performances, and plenty of dancing, too, for those who don’t feel like getting erotic. The kissing will start at midnight.

Here’s an article on tonight’s FMOTQ on Stanford Daily.

I’ll be going there to see what’s the tradition about. Don’t think I’ll be breaking my senior’s record. =)

Korean Movie: When Romance Meets Destiny (2005)

Posted on October 19th, 2007 in Korean, Movies, Videos by yeehan

This is a movie about two individuals. One who hids his love and another who is a playboy. The summary is as follow:

“Gwang-sik can’t always confess his love for his lover and hides when a rival appears. He runs a photo studio and can’t forget Yoon-gyeong, his unrequited love whom he met seven years ago, while at university and couldn’t reveal his love for her. One day, he meets her again at his friend Myeong-chan’s wedding ceremony and loses his head when she remembers his name and his class vividly. She just goes saying that if she’s in the mood, she’ll visit his photo studio. His heart begins to go pit-a-pat.
Gwang-tae, who is 7 years younger than Gwang-sik, has met 70 times as many girl friend as his elder brother. He’s the playboy and has his own dating policies—”don’t sleep with a woman more than 12 times,” “when sleeping with a woman, don’t reveal your innermost feelings,” and “don’t play with a woman who he knows.” He sticks to his own free style about life and love. Intending to meet a slender woman, he participates in the marathon race and he falls for the sexy Gyeong-jae there. A few days later, he meets her again and begins a hot and cool love affair with her. He is tormented by his policy that he should break up with her before sleeping with her a 12th time, but Gyeong-jae first bids farewell. Though he should be happy about her farewell, his feelings about her are unusually serious.”

I watched this movie few months back. Can’t really remember how the story went but one part in the trailer reminded me of that you should always treasure the moment with someone that you like. Quoted from Julia Robert, “If you love someone, say it right then out loud. Otherwise, the moment just passes you by.”

As for the other guy, I shall not comment. Oh ya, one of the actress actually stared in 200 Pounds Beauty. Link here.

Tagxe- Let’s join the ride

Posted on October 10th, 2007 in Computer & Internet, Software by yeehan

Tagxe is a Singapore web-based taxi sharing service that allows users to share taxi to their desired locations.

The idea behind this is very simple:
1) You travel from Bedok to Clementi everyday.
2) You HATE waiting for the bus/MRT but you wouldn’t want to pay the full taxi fare yourself.
3) You login Tagxe and search for your desired meet-up place and destination.
4) If you can’t find any, then you simply enter the details and wait for others to join in the ride and share the fare.

And what you can GAIN from this service are:
1) You save time instead of waiting for bus/MRT.
2) You save up to 75% of the taxi fare.
3) You get to meet 2-3 new people everyday.
4) You always get a seat.

This site even suggested a way to spilt the taxi fare.

Give your comments (if you have any) to improve on the web application. This is definitely an interesting web application that is worth trying out for. Sign up and start using at http://www.tagxe.com

Baseball with Giants

Posted on October 5th, 2007 in California, Place of interests, Silicon Valley, Sports by yeehan

This is my first baseball game ever. I have never watched a full baseball game nor understand the game properly prior to Tuesday match between San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres. Of course I went for San Francisco’s home game rather than San Diego’s. One being one hour away and the other being 8 hours drive away.
I have only been to Singapore’s Kallang stadium so AT&T stadium is way bigger than what I have seen.

I drove down to San Francisco with three other friends. We reached there at around 7pm and had to scout around for parking lots. I managed to find one two blocks away which cost $15. That was expensive but it was still cheaper than another car which was parked at the AT&T car park- $30. We each bought a $10 ticket. The seat is way up the stadium but it allowed us to have an overview of the whole stadium. Here’s the picture to see how high up we were.

The game was definitely worth the money. Four of us stayed throughout the whole game and we saw the turn-a-round of the game. The result was unexpected if you saw the three quarters of the game. Padres managed to turn their luck around. Giants were leading 4-2 almost the entire game only to lose 4-6 to Padres in the last inning. That was a big blow to Giants since they led throughout the whole game. Oh ya, that night was mooncake festival so we had a full moon over head. But it was overshadowed by the stadium spotlights. It was a great game. Looking forward to going for other sports in the US.
