MidWest- Here I come!

Posted on February 1st, 2008 in Place of interests, Road Trips, Travel by yeehan

My next stop immediately after my LA trip was Midwest to visit my sister. I had a very tight schedule. I got back from LA at 12am after a 6 hours drive. Then I packed my bag, bathed, uploaded photos and slept at 2am. Woke up at 4am to have a quick breakfast and went to airport to catch a flight at 6am. To save money, I transited twice; First stop was in Phoenix, Arizona and second was in Chicago, Illinois before reaching Madison, Wisconsin. You can see the difference between Phoenix and Madison. One brown, the other white.

On my way to Arizona.

On my way to Wisconsin.

I was super excited when I saw the snow on the ground. It was my first time seeing real soft snow. My skiing trip to Lake Tahoe was man-made snow so it’s not counted. What excited me more was that it snowed on the second day after I arrived. After waking up, I quickly changed and went out to play with snow. It was so soft and it looked like ‘ice kacang’. Of course I didn’t taste it but I did open my mouth to catch the snowfall. Didn’t feel anything particular actually because the snow flakes was so small.

Everywhere is covered with snow. Nothing escapes the snowfall (except heat). I was also covered partially with snow. Look at me!

We walked to the frozen lake and went on top of the lake too. Some people may have the phobia that the ice might break and they fall into the river. For me, if that happens, just get people to call 911. Swim with the fish first yar. There are people fishing on the lake. It was like the stories that I heard about Eskimos, except that they have a tent and not an igloo. It’ll be nice to see one next time when I travel.

I tried to test out the snow angel as what my Berkeley friend did in Tahoe. She didn’t manage to make one because the snow at Tahoe was hard. The one that I had was super soft snow so I managed to make the snow angel. Yup, and it is for my friend as what I promised you during our chat. Hope it did cheer you up in one way or another. Anyway, it snowed so heavily that there were about 6 inches of soft snow. This was the moment before I started making the snow angel. There were some passers-by and they smiled at me while I was lying on the ground flapping my legs and arms. They must be thinking that this guy must be crazy to play in the snow. Oh well, that was my first time so I’ll just heck care.

Some random pics in snow expedition. Yeehan.com was spotted in the snow! Wow!

Turtle crossing? They must be frozen turtles now.

Trying to act tough in the snow. Succeeded for a day before I fell sick.

It was a real nice experience. Plus a completely different view too. Do take a trip to those four season countries and experience snowfall. Seeing snow on the ground is not as fun as seeing snow falling to the ground. Yeap. =)
