Skyline Chicago

I have reached Chicago, one of the world class architecture cities in the world. After a four hour bus ride from Madison (We didn’t drive because it was forecasted to snow. It didn’t however), we reached the city center. We decided to head to Chinatown first for brunch. Took the train (quite slow and dirty) to the station.

We had quite nice dim sum there. The place is known as The Phoenix Restaurant. The queue was quite long so we had to wait for about an hour before we started filling up our stomach. Price wise was rather okay. Just the queue is damn freaking long.

Since we don’t have a car, we can’t travel too far. We only take the train so in the end; we went to a couple of places within walking distance. The first stop was Navy Pier. It is situated near the Michigan Lake, one of the biggest lakes in US. Luckily the wind wasn’t very strong that day or else I’ll freeze to death. (Note: I have begun to develop symptoms of cold)

You walked along the pier and you’ll see a lot of cruises. But since it was winter, nobody would want to go on those cruise rides around Michigan Lake. Maybe you can do that on other seasons so I won’t be telling you here. Moving on, you can walk along the pier and from there, you can have a very nice Chicago skyline. The architecture there is simply amazing. Not sure if you can see the Sears Tower amidst the buildings. It’s a bit hidden in this photo. I’ve actually walked beneath Sears Tower. Didn’t have time to go up the tower though. You may want to try it if you have the time.

Along Navy Pier, there’s this building too. Inside the building, there was an exhibition on the painted glasses. Most of the artwork depicts the Christianity and I must admit that it is an art not to be missed. But I think it’s an exhibition so you may not have the chance to see it though.
The building was also the place to escape the cold. I was like trying to keep my ears and fingers intact. Luckily it didn’t get detached. Next post will be the second stop I visited in Chicago. Stay tune.

Tracing back my roots, I would want to wish everyone a very Happy Chinese New Year. Have a great Rat-a-touille year ahead. Also, happy birthday to you, my friend! May joy and happiness be with you wherever you are. I’ll see you next year! =)
